I think you’ve got it backwards. Very few Americans have any urge to assimilate into the Latino culture, but they tend to appreciate those aspects of Latino culture which have been assimilated into our own, such as spicy food and hot dance music. Most Americans who are not of Hispanic descent nevertheless know at least a few words of Spanish; many study it in school and become quite fluent. But they do not go to Mexico, Central America or South America in great numbers and attempt to assimilate into those cultures. A few certainly do, especially those who are sensitive to the cost of living issues.

I think the Hispanic-Latino culture is the one that should try to assimilate the American culture… remember when in Rome….. I think it is normal and polite when you come to someone elses country to try and conform to their culture instead of expecting the people letting you in to change to suit you

Got something to say?
